The effects of setting

Chunk #1:  Comment the effect of the setting on the characters within the novel.
The setting of the novel is very modest. It effects Jim because he wants to go out dancing with girls when it is not socially acceptable for a young man like him to do so. Also, people did not have fancy cell phones, TVs, cars, or computers, they had to appreciate life around them in stead of being caught up in the technology like many of us are today.

Chunk #2: discuss the effect a setting on you, including imagery (lots of adjectives) and a simile or a metaphor as you describe the land.
The Christmas season really has a great effect on me. It makes me realize what really matters in life and what really does not. Many people are especially materialistic during this season. They associate Christmas with new toys , clothes, and other things. other than realizing what really matters, I love the wonderful cold weather. When it snows it is like nothing could go wrong. I love to see lights on the houses and beautifully decorated trees in windows. What lightens me up most of all is watching it snow at night and seeing the bright lights reflect off the snow falling to he ground.
